To encourage intellectual, physical, and social enrichment, NSAL encourages participation in at least one extra-curricular activity. Most activities take place during lunch, once per cycle. Intra-mural sports take place every day during lunch.
Student Council:With Mr. Scerbo and M. Patry Day 4 at lunch in room 201
The council is responsible for creating and organizing events in order to promote socialization and school spirit among the students.
Duties assumed by council (but are not limited):
- Representing the student body
- Fundraising and organizing various student activities
- Ensuring continued cooperation between NSA and the community
- Decorating the school for events and holidays
Music Club: With Mr. Silva Day 2 at lunch and Day 6 after school
Always dreamed of being a rock star!? NSAL and Mr. Silva have the right club for you. Whether you want to sing, rap, learn how to play the guitar, jam or simply keep practicing your instrument of choice, join the Music Club! Club meetings will take place at lunch on Day 2 and after school on Day 6 in room 202. As the year moves along, the Music Club will also aim to develop musical acts for the NSAL Awards Ceremony and the NSAL Variety Show. Don’t be shy, join the Music Club today!!

Art Club:With Ms. Cutts Day 6 at lunch in room 205.
Students are invited to a safe, relaxing environment to work on various creations during lunch. They are encouraged to bring and work on their individual art projects (personal art and school-associated projects) · Students will work closely with the art teacher mounting and displaying various forms of artwork. Students are also invited to participate in the embellishment of the school. These artistic pieces will be classified by theme or event.
Dance Club: With Mary-Zoi Day 8 at lunch in room 101 and Day 2 after school in the gym.
Like to dance? Consider joining NSAL’s Dance Troupe! This will be the time for students to learn and rehearse choreographed routines. These numbers will be performed at NSAL’s Award’s ceremony and our Fashion/Variety Show in the spring. Students who wish to participate should wear appropriate exercise apparel to each rehearsal. Please note that this activity will require commitment. Students must be ready and willing to attend every rehearsal!

North Star Academy Laval has organized a club that represents theWildlife Environmental Group: a wildlife rescuing foundation. Our club hopes to show students how their involvement in volunteer work and other related activities can influence the environment for the better, and make it a more pleasant place in which to live. Students will be learning about animals, endangered wildlife, and how we can help make a difference. In essence, our aim is to raise money so that we can adopt a tiger, as well as donate to the WWF.
Variety/Fashion Show:With Ms. Ranallo and Ms. Cutts Day 3 at lunch.
Do you enjoy the spotlight? Ever dream of being a pop star, or part of a Broadway spectacle? If this is you, perhaps you can begin practicing your red carpet walk! North Star Academy Laval will be hosting a production to showcase your talents. This production will be a cross between High School Musical, Step Up, and Canada’s Next Top Model, offering a creative mix of opportunities in singing, dancing, and acting, with intermittent fashion show scenes.
School Newspaper: With Mrs. Nemes Day 7 at lunch in room 206 and Day 1 at 3:00.
North Star Academy Laval is looking for students who share a passion for writing. Students will be given the opportunity to engage in various forms of article writing, and compile a school newspaper containing reviews, horoscopes, comics, events, photos, and more.
Running club/Track & Field: With Mr. Terrone Day 4 after school & Day 6 at 7:00 a.m.
It’s a bird; it’s a plane! No…no! It’s an NSAL sprinter! The NSAL running club/track team will be competing in the annual Laval Tournoi D’Athlétisme towards the end of May. The track team caters to a variety of athletes; from sprinters to long distance runners, from shot put throwers to high jumpers. If you’re interested, come and sign up with Mr. Terrone. Practices will begin after Spring Break.
Cosom Hockey Team: With Mr. Terrone Day 3 and 9 after school.
He shoots…he scores! NSAL will be having a Cosom Hockey Team for Secondary I and II students. Our school will be playing against other schools in the Laval region. The team will participate in both home and away games.
Intramural Sports:With Mr. Terrone everyday at lunch.
The Intramural Sports Program provides students with the opportunity to remain active on a daily basis. The students can take part in various sports that are offered in the gymnasium. As NSAL follows a 9 day cycle, the sports activities offered follow a cyclical pattern.
Grad committee: With Ms. Norcross, Ms. Robinson and Ms. Ranallo Day 2 at lunch in room 203 at 1 pm.

Welcome to your senior year! Want to plan fun activities for your class? The Grad Committee meets once per nine-day cycle to plan the June prom /graduation ceremony as well as fundraisers and other activities throughout the year. The more enthusiasm you bring to the table, the more fun we can have. Come join us!

Cooking Club: With Mrs. Nemes Day 8 after school in the cafeteria.
You will have a blast learning new recipes and techniques in our cooking club. At the end of the hour, everyone gets to enjoy the finished product!!! We will occasionally have guest speakers on nutrition or have a trained chef show us exciting things. So come learn how to make delicious snacks, yummy desserts and scrumptious main courses. *A small fee (approx.$10) will be required per term).
Math Club: With Ms. Norcross Day 8 at lunch in room 203 at 12:45.
Looking for a challenge? Come have fun perfecting your math skills with Ms. Norcross every day 8. We will prepare for the annual University of Waterloo Math Competition and engage in fun, educational activities. The possibilities are limitless!!!
Games R Us: With Mr. Scerbo day 9 at lunch in room 201.
Tired of doing nothing at lunch? Need more excitement? Come join Mr. Scerbo and gang for some gamin’. There will be lots of fun board games, competitive card games and maybe even some awesome video games hooked up. This is where the fun is at!!!!!!!!!!
Book club: With M. Patry day 9 at lunch in room 101.
Books are a good way to learn and exchange different thoughts and opinions. Students will be able to choose their books (all the same or different ones); which will be discussed together as a group. Different themes will be approached and discussed during the book club (depending on the choices students are going to make).
Varsity Girls Jr. Team: With Mr. Terrone after school on day 5 and 7.
Sec. 1 & 2 girls are invited to join the varsity girls team to have fun participating in different sports after school. Keep active and be part of a team!!!
