The cooking club made a pasta salad and sun-dried tomato and basil pinwheels. It was a small group but they had lots of fun. From now on, cooking club will be charging $2 for students who want leftovers.
North Star Academy Laval Geography (secondary 1 and 2) students and members of the Wildlife Environmental Group, will compete in the annual Classroom Energy Diet Challenge, a contest where students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 complete 25 energy-related challenges. The competition, which runs from January 30 to April 26, encourage students to become aware and empower them to begin to make a difference when it comes to Canada’s energy consumption.
The challenges ask that classrooms around the country work together for a common goal: learning about and implementing practices that promote efficient use of sustainable energy. Having already submitted an accomplished challenge: A Green Powered Canada, North Star Academy Laval students continue to work hard to make their school, community, country and their planet a better place.
Completed challenges are awarded points for the chance to win 100 prizes totaling $40,000 to be won
NSAL would like to thank Claire Kapusta and Fariha Kamal from Women Engineer for speaking to our students about the world of engineers. Our guest speakers explained the passion involved in their field of work along with their own high school experiences. Ms. Kapusta and Ms. Kamal also stressed on how hard work in high school will pay off in Cecep and University. Thank you once more!
Teresa Norris, founder and president of the HPV Awareness association and contributor to the Sexuality Education Network, will be coming in on January 30th to speak to the Secondary 3, 4, and 5’s regarding sexual health, healthy relationships, and consent.
NSAL will be welcoming Mrs Remi Alwan, attaché politique du député de Chomedey Guy Ouellete, on January 30th to speak to our secondary 1 and 2 students. Mrs Alwan will share her high school experience, her motivation to succeed in high school and her field of work. Mrs Alwan will help the students record their own motivational thoughts.
