French Theater Outing

Each year, the French department organizes a day at the theater outing for the entire school. This past year, NSAL's annual A Day at the Theater outing took place at the Maison des Arts de Laval. Organized by the french department, students and staff got to hone their French skills by attending a play entitled Nordicité. Using video projections, puppets and giant polar bear suits, the play was a visual poem taking the audience on a journey between myths and Nordic realities.

English Play

The Secondary 2 and 3 English classes attended the play Around The World in 80 Days. This theatrical adaptation of the book by Jules Verne tells the humorous tale of Phileas Fogg and his valet Passpartout as they attempt to circumvent the globe in 80 days in order to win a bet. The students were given the task of determining how and why the play was staged in the way that it was and how it differed from the book.

Speak Up

Each year, North Star Academy students attends the EMSB's annual Speak Up Montreal! spoken word competition at Marymount High School. We have had our students win this competition and others place amongst the top speakers in the region. This wonderful platform allows students to express their ideas and thoughts freely.

Jewish Rehab Center

Each year, a group of our students have the opportunity to attend a day long workshop at our local Jewish Rehab Center. The students hear from professionals in all disciplines and got to see firsthand what being in physical rehab is like and how people in this profession make a difference in peoples lives

Destination Quebec- LCC trip

Destination Quebec is an important annual event held at Lower Canada College. Our students take part in a number of workshops to discuss and contemplate the effect of globalization in various fields such as, technology, business, the environment, social justice and health. Our students leave with a renewed interest and understanding on how globalization shapes our world as well as their role in the process.

Vpixx

As part of the science curriculum, Secondary 3 students had the pleasure of visiting Vpixx technologies, a private company that serves and supplies vision scientists with software tools and instruments in such fields as electrophysiology, fMRI, and psychophysics.   Students took part in a competitive game that measured their eye-hand response times, and also tried an eye-tracker recently developed by the company.
