North Star Academy Laval is an independent high school that offers a vigorous, secondary education. Our program is designed to enable students to develop an awareness of their potential. Commitment to community service and individual responsibility are also strongly emphasized. An in-depth, enriched curriculum, close faculty-student relations, diverse activities and a variety of special programs will support these goals. The curriculum is varied and challenging, providing a strong college-preparatory program in ten fields of study; English, History, Sciences, Foreign Language, Art, Performing Arts, and Physical Education. All courses emphasize reading, writing and research skills and courses may include educational field trips to museums, theatres, and historical sites.
North Star Academy Laval’s Academic Standards
North Star Academy Laval’s educators aim to instill a sense of responsibility in all their students. Therefore, we require students to take pride in their work and complete their assignments in a timely fashion. Furthermore, we aim to instill study skills that will benefit our student body through out their academic careers. Our educators are urged to follow the academy’s academic policy as to better prepare students for the rigidity of CEGEP and university regulations.
Should students not submit an assignment by the due date, the following will apply:
- The assignment may be submitted, but must be accompanied by a valid reason (Doctors note) for the assignment being late.
- The late assignment will be deducted 20% per day up to 3 days.
- If the assignment is more than 3 days late a grade of 0 will be attributed.
- If the assignment is part of a group project and one member or more turns it in late, all members will bear the above-mentioned consequences.
Please note that students who are absent without a valid excuse (doctors note) and miss an in-class assignment or test will obtain a grade of 0.
