Ms. Lara McTeigue earned her Bachelor of Education from Bishop’s University. During her studies, she conducted participatory action research in Sub-Saharan Africa where she explored teaching and learning using locally available resources in order to empower teachers and help them excel by incorporating practices that highlight resources which are culturally relevant and meaningful to them.

She has worked with students from first to twelfth grade from a variety of backgrounds. She has also had experience as a resource teacher to students with challenges and worked with gifted students in the International Baccalaureate Program. Her love of travel and inspiring youth has also guided her to work leading teen tours around the world during her summers.

Ms. McTeigue is known for her passion for teaching for social justice and her desire to amplify and elevate her students’ unique voices while supporting them in learning with an asset-based and culturally sensitive teaching approach. She strives to make learning meaningful to her students by making connections between her course material and the world beyond the classroom that enable creativity and critical thinking.
